I am a mom of three, a wife to one (!), and have been a hobby gardener here in San Diego for 25 years. My background is in science, having graduated from UCSD in 1995, and working in biotech for 14 years.
After becoming a stay at home mom with various volunteer positions, I signed on to be the garden coordinator at my children’s elementary school. This was five years ago when the school garden team and I built the garden, planted it up, and then started teaching lessons with newly-created lesson plans.
Now it is March 2020 and we are in coronavirus quarantine here in California. This has put me in a position to homeschool my high school, middle school, and elementary school aged children. It has also inspired me to get our garden beds fixed up for Spring and to grow our own food. So what better combination than to start this project - Homeschool Gardening!
We will dig in to nature, science, technology, engineering, art, and math while gardening. We’ll also bring social studies, language arts, crafts, and music into the garden. I can’t wait to explore all of this with you as we learn together!
